McKenna's Bedroom

Many people have asked to see pictures of McKenna's newly decorated bedroom. Though we still have a few details to finish, this will give you an idea of what we've done. The theme is "Lil Nalu Wahine" (Little Surfer Girl).

Her door. I made the sign. My friend Laura made the pillow.

A close-up of the pillow. Its extra-special to us. Thank you Laura. : )

This is her room as you see it from the hallway. The "valance" is actually a table skirt we bought from Party City and trimmed.
The empty space next to the table is where my rocking chair will go (for bedtime stories).
McKenna actually has a mini rocking chair that is there right now. The chair pad matches her bedding.

To the left of the door - Her bookcase, giant hibiscus flowers, her humidifier,
her lamp (Grandma Beth made the lamp shade) and a tiki cup that we use as a vase.

A close-up of the lamp and the "vase".

To the left of the bookcase: Her closet covered in a lei curtain, beachcomber hat, paper hula lantern.
The bassinet is coming down. We just haven't had time yet. Once its down, this is where her laundry basket will go.

Her crib bedding (fabric ordered from Samoa and bedding hand-made by Grandma Beth!)
Above the crib will be a poster of a local surf spot. We'll frame it with bamboo sticks (cut in half and nailed to the wall so it won't be a danger).

To the left of the crib: Two more paper hula lanterns, a bright pink sunshine mirror (found at the dollar store!)

To the left of the window: Her toy bin with a palm tree and sunshine. The lotion pump holds her sunscreen.

To the left of her toy bin you see: A playable ukulele, a pineapple candle (it makes her whole room smell tropical), a porcelain hula doll, a bamboo candle, a baby grass skirt, leis, a purse which holds her baby flip flops and matching sunglasses, a monkey bank made from coconut shells, a basket of seashells and starfish, and two beaded picture frames.

.

I couldn't get a really clear picture of this but its one of my favorite items in the room.
That picture is one we took back in May of her pretending to drive our car. It went perfectly with this frame.

A few details we're still working on:

The rocking chair

The surf poster/bamboo frame above the crib

This poster from the retro surf film "Endless Summer" to go on the back of her door

As we complete the last details we'll update with more pics!
